Now is Our Time: National Campaign
WellMe’s health promotion campaign, Now
is Our Time: Healthy Living for Women 40-55, addresses the
major health issues facing women between 40 and 55,
as they set patterns for the second half of their lives.
As women approach and enter menopause, they face a
heightened risk of heart disease, hypertension, breast
and other cancers, osteoporosis and diabetes. Although
it is widely known among professionals that unhealthy
lifestyles and missed screenings contribute heavily
to incidence rates and severity of all these diseases,
studies show that women continue in unhealthy lifestyles
and do not comply with screening recommendations.
Women 40-55 need a comprehensive understanding of this
phase
of life in order to take appropriate preventive steps
to ensure health and vitality as they age.
This campaign
uses a variety of media tools and outreach activities
to reach target audiences and deliver
educational and motivational messages about the
importance of health
screenings and healthy lifestyles. This project
was supported by many regional and national organizations
including the National Institute of Nursing Research,
the American Diabetes Association, The National
Black
Women’s Health Project and the Society for
Women’s
Health Research.
