Loving Hands: Home Care for Children
Hosted by Dana Reeve
When a child is born with a disability
or life-threatening illness, parents are thrown into
a world they know little about. How will my child grow
and develop? How will we care for this child? Who can
answer our questions?
Everyone in the family is affected
by the level of care the child needs. Siblings, grandparents,
and extended
family may all see their roles change. They often
wonder what they can do to help.
This program shows
the stories of three families who are facing these
questions and coming up with positive
and resourceful answers. Some of the issues they
deal with include:
- Finding time for non-disabled siblings
- Networking
with other parents
- Managing home care nurses and
aides
- Keeping their marriage healthy
- Dealing with school
districts and medical systems
